Day 2 - TJ Knighton - Check in and Walking adventure!

Hello everyone! My name is TJ, I am a Choral Ed major, and I sing bass in Shrine. Today was our first day in Buenos Aires. After waiting until everyone was out of customs, we took taxis to our hotel. The first thing I noticed about the city was the architecture. It kind of seemed like a crossover between Europe and the US. After the ~40 min taxi ride, we checked in to our hotel and got settled in. Taking a shower was one of the highlights of my day, after such a long travel adventure!

A couple friends and I soon left to get our legs moving, and we wanted to see what the city had to offer. Since our group dinner was just around the corner, I got some fries to eat at a local fast food place just down the street from our hotel. As we walked toward a park, a light drizzle started to pick up a little.

I think I can speak for many of us when I say that coming from Arizona, this cold weather in mid-June feels so refreshing! Part of this season switch is that Buenos Aires just finished their fall months as they move into winter. Lots of the trees were still changing colors, and walking down streets that had these were breathtaking.

To end our day, we all went to a gorgeous dinner at a restaurant called La Parolaccia. They had a wonderful selection of pastas and wines. I enjoyed the good food and the better company in this beautiful city today.

Day 14 (?) - To Shrine,

Today we arrived back in the United States after a long almost two weeks of being out of the country. The flight today has allowed me to do a good amount of reflecting on the tour. I won’t lie and say that these past weeks haven’t been without issues but they have brought some of my most incredible memories. Adjusting to a new culture and trying to get around a city that speaks a different language than me was a tough barrier to get through for the first few days. I was incredibly blessed to have a group of people who allowed me to learn alongside them (with David’s help translating) was an experience I will never forget. Instead of writing a post talking about how grateful I am for everybody on this trip, I’d like to write about my favorite memories (in order of how I remember them) 1. Day 2 - Drake Hammack - Buenos Aries!!

Today we landed in Buenos Aires and got our first taste of the new sights, sounds and cultures we get to experience on this tour. After finishing a long 9 hour plane ride -and getting through customs- we took taxis to our hotel which lies right in the middle of downtown. Just walking through the streets of downtown was a great experience, many beautiful buildings surround the area. Some standouts for me were the museum and the cathedral. Packed in between the wonderful architecture were so many little shops and food vendors it was hard to choose which ones to stop at and which to walk by. Eventually the group I was with stopped at a bookstore. The store was decorated from top to bottom in antique signs and furniture, and the whole store had that old book smell. We even found a shelf full of classical music recordings, full of a bunch of composers and pieces a bunch of music nerds on a choir tour instantly recognized. Day 1 - Tristen Bara - Travel Day Fun!(?)

Hi everyone! This is Tristen, a soprano of Shrine. Our first day of tour was simply a travel days, and we’ve experienced some bumps along the road (as anyone would). Our first flight out of PHX to ATL got delayed about 90 minutes total, and our whole group arrived around 11am for check-in, so we hung out at the airport for quite some time! Most of us circled up and played some card games (a lot of us in Shrine love card games, so we had basically an unlimited variety of decks and options!). Our first plane finally arrived around 2:30. Our first flight wasn’t too bad! Little turbulence, we all managed to stay awake to sleep on our long flight. In the last hour of the flight a group of us randomly started a trivia game we found on our small seat screens! I believe another soprano, Ava, ended up winning it all! We finally reached Atlanta, and all of us SPRINTED to the nearest shuttle to get to our next gate, when lo and behold our next flight has also been delayed. This one end...
